I don’t know much about Barry Belafonte other than he lives in Germany and has created a beautiful, soothing, neon colored ambient pop album. Some of the music’s patient mood reminds me of NV’s ‘Binasu’ album that Orange Milk released last year, taking cues from Japanese minimalism of the 80s and 90s and incorporating more recent editing and style around the edges. I love that Neon Beach manages to be so relaxing but so playfully rhythmic at once.
